Albertsons Safeway is working to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves. The Manufacturing Department has an opening for a Manager of Retail Sales Dairy business. This position is located in Boise, Idaho.
 
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drive sales and account management leadership. Formulate and implement divisional sales and merchandising plans to achieve revenue and EBITDA objectives through Joint Business Planning with key stakeholders This should include revenue, distribution, share, velocity, promotional effectiveness and in-store merchandising goals.
- Fully accountable for achievement of KPI’s on period, quarterly and annual basis.
- Own the relationship with divisional business partners to achieve objectives.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the categories and the role of the manufactured product portfolio within the category.
- Analyze advertising trends, pricing, promotion, placement and product mix and related competitive factors to develop and implement a sales plan to deliver against targets.
- Assess marketplace and customer conditions to focus strategies and tactics against sales growth opportunities.
- Leverage Category Management best practices and analytics in developing sales strategies and tactics.
- Conduct comprehensive business reviews and recommendations with division teams on a regular basis.
- Work with internal systems, Nielsen and retail scan data to analyze and prepare data driven sales presentations and analysis.
- Effectively manage pricing and promotional budgets through sophisticated fact-based selling and margin management techniques.
- Work with FP&A to ensure accurate and efficient tracking and spend analysis.
- Analyze and interpret financial data to accurately plan and forecast promotions.
- Develop annual Promotional Calendar and in-store promotional needs to support sales growth at higher than category or fair share rates.
- Partner with FP&A to deliver promotional spend results within defined budget parameters while evaluating and increasing year on year account promotional spend ROI.
- Provide cross-functional, organizational leadership by communication with all levels of the organization to ensure that sales goals and plans are clearly understood.
- Strong coordination with division and corporate merchandising team to successfully implement sales tactics and deliver objectives.
- Build team member’s personnel development according to ACT principles and in conjunction with The Supply Chain Divisions need and future growth opportunities within.
 
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
- 6 - 8 years of progressive relevant sales, marketing and merchandising experience, within the CPG arena or comparable category experience at a major retailer.
- 1 - 2 years of Category Management experience with emphasis on Category Optimization with relevant examples of success
- 2 years minimum of people management experience, 3 - 4 years preferred.
- Sales leadership and account management expertise including category management, financial management and account administration.
- Direct experience utilizing data from multiple sources including but not limited to Nielsen, IRI, and internal retailer systems to construct compelling selling story to retailers.
- Demonstrated consumer products sales and/or merchandising experience with direct responsibility for maintaining and growing sales. Specific knowledge of retail promotion strategies and tactics.
- Business development expertise including managing the customer/product pipeline, presentation, persuasion and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability and successful track record as a sales and business development professional acquiring new business and managing/growing existing accounts.
- Experience partnering, forging, and maintaining strong strategic alliances with both internal and external partners and organizations to deliver business objectives.
- Able to think and execute at both a strategic and tactical level while evaluating and recalibrating as needed in response to market conditions.
- Analytical-driven problem solver.
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills. Must have strong people motivating and development skills, as well as the ability to collaborate and influence across departments and stakeholders.
- Exceptional follow through and execution capabilities; solid project coordinating abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization, modifying the message as appropriate to each audience.
- Experience managing a sales team inspiring passion and excitement around the vision, goals and objectives and to build a sense of urgency to achieve results.
- 50% or more travel required.
