The Supply Chain Department has an opening for Seasonal and Candy Procurement Manager. This position is located in Boise, Idaho.
POSITION PURPOSE: The Seasonal and Candy Procurement Manager is responsible for the efficient buying of product lines assigned for these respective categories. Coordinate all buying activities to ensure achievement of all department, distribution center, and company sales and profit objectives. Ensure that the highest standards of professional integrity are maintained throughout the buying team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: •Develop and maintain professional working relationships with Distribution, Merchandising, and Division Personnel and facilitate beneficial communication related to products and promotional activity to procurement team and DC operations. •Provides overall department goal setting and direction based on key performance indicators (including but limited to warehouse service level, working capital, inventory turns and aged inventory). •Interface with other department heads and division personnel to accomplish job functions. •Develop and maintain effective working relationships with brokers, vendors, logistic companies, store operations, distribution center and division office personnel. •Act as liaison and communication link to Vendor community, Division personnel and warehousing. •Attends key meetings to maintain awareness of programs and issues providing relevant department information in support of fundamental and strategic programs. •Ensure that established sales plan is understood and adhered to by all buying staff. •Manage team’s forecasting and procurement of promotional needs while minimizing inventory levels. Conduct post analysis on promotional forecasting accuracy and purchasing efficiency. •Participates in developing and managing Distribution P&L by conducting analysis and providing relevant procurement data. •Monitors department’s results compared to projections identifying potential issues, recommending solutions and corrective actions. •Review and analyze operating reports with buying staff and take appropriate action when necessary. •Obtain best possible costs/quality at all times. •Visits stores, as needed, to monitor programs, obtain store feedback and to assess overall implementation effectiveness as needed. •Remote access (buying system) from home or off site location when necessary. •Work with Corporate Procurement Team to implement best practices and to ensure execution of strategic programs where applicable. •Train and mentor new buying team members. Responsible for evaluating team member performance.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Education Level: •Bachelor’s degree in related field; equivalent work experience.
Experience Level: •5 - 10 years of experience in multiple facets of Supply Chain including Retail Operations, Buying, Logistics and Manufacturing. •7 years of experience with a major grocery retail chain in a vendor management, purchasing, distribution or strategic sourcing role with responsibility for working with major national vendors. •5 – 10 years of people management experience.
Skills and Experiences: •Demonstrated track record of developing, implementing and managing vendor management programs through process improvements, systems enablement and application KPIs and incentives. •Outstanding communication and collaboration skills required. Proven track record of effectively collaborating with strategic vendors to improve supply chain performance •Strong business acumen and P&L awareness, with track record of business partnership across an organization. •Must be able to establish timelines, financial and operational goals and drive vendor teams to deliver against these goals in a fast paced work environment. •Exceptional systems skills especially MS Office and Supply Chain systems. •Strong detailed understanding of business operations. •Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to Supply Chain opportunities as well as teamwork capabilities. •Excellent presentation, communication, change management, and persuasion skills. •Superior planning, problem solving, analytical skills, project management skills, people management skills, and financial skills. •Demonstrated people leader: build strong relationships, hire great people, commit to the growth of individuals on team and lead by example.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 5 – 10%
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: •Ability to lift 30 pounds or more. •Work typically performed in a temperature-controlled environment (perishable and frozen warehouses). •Spends long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. •Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday. •Workday is fast paced, some evening and weekend work may be required
