Act as the in-store, customer-facing dietitian providing “Answers in the Aisles” to Albertsons Companies customers.
· Serve as a bridge between the pharmacy and the rest of the store in the areas of food, health and wellness
· Inspire pharmacy customers to shop smart in the rest of the store and inspire our store customers to utilize our pharmacy services
· Connect with the health community to help customers achieve optimal health through food, nutrition and pharmacy
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Attends and participates in approved scheduled meetings and trainings with divisional or corporate leaders via conference call, in person or via other media
· In-store dietitians must be flexible to work weekends and evening and holiday schedules to meet patient and customers and store needs
Media Appearances: (12.5%)
· Seek opportunities to promote the store and the Albertsons Companies banners’ through the local media
· Digital outreach to customers to promote events and the store
· Provide and/or record sound bites for store intercom and in-store radio
· Utilize content from Wellness Services for media such as media pitches, recipes, high-resolution photos and blog content
o Conduct regular guest appearances on local affiliated TV stations and radio interviews
o Provide content as a guest columnist for local newspaper(s) and other in-print opportunities
· Collect and report metrics for media appearances
· Conduct supermarket tours, workshops, cooking classes and food experiences to a variety of community groups, or disease specific programs such as diabetes, cancer-healthy, gluten-free
· Offer and conduct performance nutrition and other programs to local high school, middle school and community athletic teams
· Incorporate food and pharmacy into programs and events
· Utilize content and Albertson Companies programs developed by Wellness Services such as program outlines, vendor programs, pharmacy programs, educational brochures, and lesson plans.
· Collect and report metrics for in-store programs and events
Merchandising (25%):
· In collaboration with department managers and the store director identify weekly merchandising events focused on healthful options, new items, seasonal promotions, or vendor supported events
· Utilize various marketing venues to merchandise products and events such as point-of-sale signage, food experiences, recipes, sample dinner menus, or end-cap displays
· Utilize content developed by Wellness Services for merchandising such as recipes and vendor sponsored programs.
· Collect and report metrics for merchandising including sales lift, customer feedback and surveys
Medical Nutrition Therapy and Nutrition Counseling: (25%)
· Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for disease states that can benefit from nutrition counseling such as diabetes, chronic renal failure (CRF), and post kidney transplant.
· Provide individual and weight management fee-based programs using the Albertsons Companies weight management program along with Own Brands meal plan.
· Provide nutrition counseling per individual requests or provider referrals.
· Partner and refer patients to in-store pharmacists and Patient Care Pharmacists
· Asist pharmacy staff in understanding any food related allergies patients may have in addition to answering basic nutrition questions relating to customer medical history
· Coordinate physician referrals and patient scheduling using Pharmacy Customer Care (PCC) and Market Touch.
· Collaborate and partner with neighborhood healthcare providers to offer higher quality more coordinated patient care.
· Document all services according to company policy and payer specifications.
· Collect and report metrics for MNT including patients seen per month.
Community Programs and Events: (12.5%)
· Participate in local health fairs and other community-based programs
· Conduct nutrition and pharmacy wellness programs at area businesses
· Seek opportunities to partner and collaborate with local health organizations
· Seek grant partnerships with non-profit organizations to the benefit of our customers and stores
· Collect and report metrics including number of attendees, customer feedback and surveys, etc.
Job Requirements
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Required
o Bachelor degree required, Master degree preferred
o Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
o Licensed dietitian and/or nutritionist in state(s) of practice
o Participate in and complete continuing education requirements to maintain registration and license
o Strong initiative, customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills
o Outstanding oral and written communications skills and the ability to engage and relate to all types of people in group and individual settings
o Strong presentation skills
o Extensive knowledge of diet/nutrition aspect of common disease states and therapies encountered in the community pharmacy setting
o Ability to translate the latest scientific findings into information that is easy to understand and articulate to customers and patients
o Proficiency with condition and disease-state topics (e.g., weight management, diabetes, heart health, etc.) and ability to integrate pharmacy, food and nutrition.
o Ability to work independently and to interface with cross-functional team members
o Excellent time management and organizational skills
o PC knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

o Active Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) membership
o Culinary training
o Active involvement in nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy
o Established collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals in the community
